Fox McCloud is the fearless leader of the Star Fox mercenary squad. Following in the footsteps of his legendary father James McCloud, Fox pilots the Arwing with unmatched skill and determination. He commands the unquestioning loyalty of his team and carries the weight of the Lylat System's defense on his shoulders.

Falco Lombardi is the ace pilot of the Star Fox team and Fox's closest rival in the cockpit. A former gang member from the streets of Corneria, Falco joined Star Fox seeking legitimate thrills. His arrogance is matched only by his incredible flying skill — he consistently outperforms everyone except Fox himself.

Slippy Toad is the team's mechanical genius and inventor of the Blue-Marine submarine. Despite being the least experienced pilot, his technical expertise keeps the team's vehicles in peak condition. Slippy is childhood friends with Fox and treats the team like family.

Peppy Hare is a veteran of the original Star Fox team alongside James McCloud. Having narrowly escaped a trap set by Pigma Dengar on Venom years ago, Peppy now serves as the team's tactical advisor and father figure. His experience makes him the team's most reliable wingman.

Wolf O'Donnell is the ruthless leader of the Star Wolf mercenary team and Fox McCloud's most persistent rival. Hired by Andross to eliminate Star Fox, Wolf takes the contract personally — he sees defeating Fox as the only way to prove himself the superior pilot.

Leon Powalski is the cold-blooded assassin of Star Wolf. A chameleon with a sadistic streak, Leon takes pleasure in the hunt and considers Falco his personal rival. His stealthy approach to combat makes him a dangerous opponent in dogfights.

Pigma Dengar is a greedy, treacherous pig who was once a member of the original Star Fox team alongside James McCloud and Peppy Hare. He betrayed them to Andross on Venom, leading to James's disappearance. Now he fights for Star Wolf, motivated purely by money.

Andross is a psychopathic simian scientist and emperor of the planet Venom. Once a respected researcher on Corneria, his dangerous experiments led to his banishment. Now he seeks revenge by conquering the entire Lylat System with his bio-mechanical armies.

General Pepper is the commander-in-chief of the Cornerian Defense Force. He personally hired the Star Fox team to defend the Lylat System from Andross's invasion. His authority and resources make him the team's primary employer and tactical coordinator.

ROB 64 is the automated operator of the Great Fox mothership. Named after the Nintendo R.O.B. accessory, this robotic assistant manages ship systems, delivers supplies during missions, and provides tactical support to the team.
